Inclusion and Access in Learning
This week I learned about how course design affects access. Classes can be face-to-face, online, blended, or multi-access. Each format can help some students but block others.
I saw how this connects to fairness. Some students live far away or have family duties. Others may deal with health or anxiety. Without flexible choices, these students lose access to learning.
I also thought about inclusion versus separation. A fully separate online program may give access but can isolate people. Multi-access design lets both in-person and online students learn together. That feels more fair.
For me, online learning gives freedom, but I still value in-person contact. A mix of both may be the best way forward.
Question for others: Can one course design weork for everyone, or will some always be left out?
