Reflection: What I Learned About Digital Identity

This course helped me understand digital identity in a new way. In the Week 2 materials on privacy and consent, Dr. Irvine explained how our online actions stay connected to us for a long time. That made me see how each post, comment, or blog entry becomes part of our public image. Before this, I never thought much about how long things stay online.

The Week 2 video also pointed out that digital identity is more than social media. It includes school work, blogs, messages and any space where we write or share ideas. This helped me realize how much of my learning is now visible to others, even when I do not notice it.

Another idea that stood out was the risk of sharing without thinking. The privacy discussion showed how platforms track more data than we expect. This made me more aware of what I share and where I post it.

I also learned that a strong digital identity can work in a positive way. When we write with care and honesty, we build trust. The course notes encouraged us to be aware of our voice, which helped me feel more confident in my writing.

Digital identity is shaped by small choices. This course helped me make better ones.
